An arrangement processes pierce cores consisting of rubber-covered individual steel wires wound into pierce core sets whose individual rings can be removed at the end of the winding process and which can be placed in a store for cooling or hardening. Between a discharge point on an automatic winder for Pierce core sets and the store concerned at least one reciprocating holder can be applied to pick up the Pierce core rings which are overlapped at the circumference. The holder also can expand the annular Pierce core sets on one side into individual rings; a vertically opening/closing pair of jaws relates to the holder for each individual Pierce core ring; besides one fixed pair of jaws there is at least one further pair which open/close horizontally and laterally. ADVANTAGE - The system engages the Pierce core sets from an automatic winder in short cycles and hence improves the overlapping joints, automatically separates the Pierce core sets and thus cuts out manual handling in those operations.
