Ammunition loading facility for fighting vehicle turret - is part of hull raised to form loading stand

The cover plate of the hull 3 is used as the facility. This plate is raised by actuator (16) to form a platform for standing during loading. The cover plate (14) is arranged into an opening (13) in the wall (8) forming the upper cover of the hull. The cover (14) is held by inner hinges (15) on this wall. Pref. the actuator is operated hydraulically and is housed within the hull itself. The simple facility is carried unobtrusively in the vehicle and it is made rapidly available for operation. This arrangement assists the crew in loading especially large calibre ammunition into the vehicle turret for storage.
