<p>An optical cable with an optical fibre, for transmission of communications by means of electromagnetic waves in the IR, visible, and UV ranges, comprises a tenacious carrier element embedded, together with the optical fibre, in a plastics sheathing. The prod. has satisfactory mechanical strength. It may be mfd. on conventional cable-making machines. The carrier element may be made of glass-fibres, which may be sized with a silane. The sheathing may be made from a polyamide.</p> |
