PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for separating a liquefiable substance from a carrier fluid which utilize a bent passage and can exhibit high effect of inertia type. CONSTITUTION: The fluid is subcooled by being flowed in a convergent-divergent nozzle 12 and, meanwhile, the fluid is flowed along the bent passage 13 to cause movement of particulates in a transverse direction by action of inertial force. During the movement, the particulates are separated while growing owing to coagulation of the particulates. The separating method has a characteristic that adiabatic expansion is executed so that inclination being in contact with a pressure curve (P(X)) at an entrance of a Wilson region (W) and excess amt. (EX2) of subcooling (SR) with respect to critical subcooling (SRnuc) are made to be comparatively small.
