1364396 Rotor for swinging-bucket centrifuge BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc 10 Jan 1973 [3 April 1972] 1276/73 Heading B2P A centrifuge rotor, Fig. 2, comprises a core 11 for mounting the rotor on a drive shaft; a plurality of spaced arms 13 extending radially outwardly; a pair of intersecting holes, e.g. 16-17, formed in the end of each arm, the holes having their centre lines lying in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation, one of said holes, e.g. 17, in each arm being aligned with one of the holes, e.g. 18, in one adjacent arm and the other of the said holes, e.g. 16, being aligned with one of the holes, e.g. 24, in the other adjacent arm; a trunnion pin, e.g. 26, disposed in each of the holes with one end extending outwardly from am associated arm towards the outwardly extending pin, e.g. 34, of an adjacent arm to form a trunnion for supporting a swingable centrifuging bucket or carrier 36, the other end of each of the pins including a stepped portion defining a surface 44 and a shoulder 43, Fig. 5, and the said other end of the pins in each pair of holes being oriented to overlap, with said surface of each in face to face relationship and said shoulder of each abutting a side of the cooperating pin. With this arrangement, the outward displacement of each pin of a pair of pins in its associated hole is limited by engagement with the other pin and at the same time the associated carrier body prevents the inward displacement of the pins from the holes. |
