<p>The arrangement for loading, preheating and purifying the charge for electrical furnaces, especially for induction crucible furnaces, has a vessel with refractory lining on a travelling frame. A movable burner hood is placed on top of the vessel and a suction duct can be swung into contact with the vessel base. This arrangement ensures efficient utilisation of fuel and it carries out a purification during the drying or preheating process of the charge material. The vessel is a double walled drum and the space between the walls is filled with refractory material. This vessel is arranged on the travelling frame so that it can rotate about its longitudinal axis and tilt about a horizontal axis. The drum is supported on a ball joint and driven by a gear arrangement.</p> |
