1466021 Coating webs BRUCKNER APPARATEBAU GmbH 7 Jan 1975 [30 Jan 1974] 543/75 Heading D1L Webs, e.g. a polyamide fibre carpet 1, are coated with a film of liq. e.g. a dye, flowing from the inclined surface of a uniformly tensioned and flexed curved metal foil 16, the liq. being supplied to the foil by overflow from container 8 provided with perforated baffles 12, 13 for calming the liq. supply. As shown in Fig. 1 liq. is supplied via inlet 2 into chamber 3 having a foam outlet 4 and a depending baffle 7 under which the liq. flows prior to flowing over weir 5 into the container 8 inclined at an angle of up to 40‹, preferably 2-10‹. The upper edge of the weir 5 has triangular cut-outs 6a, 6b, see also Fig. 2 (not shown) or round openings. The metal foil 16, 0.1 mm thick, is tensioned against the lower lip of the inclined metal plate 15 by an adjustable clamp 18 attached to beam 10 which supports container 8, the levelness of which can be adjusted by screw 11. In the alternative arrangement of Fig. 4 (not shown) the container 8 depends from a beam (10"), the support (10"a) for which is disposed between non-perforate baffles (12"a), (12"b) positioned above the bottom of the container.
