The automatically triggered hazard or warning light system, switches on when illuminated by another approaching light, and can discriminate against daylight. The device is applicable to several hazards, such as parked or moving vehicles, buoys, antennae and so on. The basic circuit consists of a number of transistors, essentially connected as an amplifier, the base of the first stage of which is fed through a light sensitive resistor. The final stage feeds one or more warning lamps. Potentiometers allow the arrangement to be set up with the sensitivity required. In an application to moving road vehicles, a warning light automatically appears, regardless of the driver's attention to his sidelights, when another vehicle approaches. |
