1487857 Fibre-reinforced compositions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 3 Dec 1974 [4 Dec 1973] 52311/74 Heading C3P An injection mouldable, curable, elastomeric composition, claimed per se, comprises (a) an ethylene/propylene copolymer containing 65- 78% by weight of ethylene units and having an inherent viscosity of 0À8-1À6 dl./g., (b) 5-30% by weight (based on the total composition) of glass fibres randomly distributed throughout the composition, and (c) 40-150 parts by weight of carbon black per 100 parts of copolymer. Optional addition comonomers in the copolymer comprise monoreactive non-conjugated dienes such as 1,4-hexadiene and 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene, and C 5 -C 110 direactive diolefins such as norbornadiene-2.5. In the examples the copolymers contain ethylene, and propylene and, in two cases, 2,5-norbornadiene and 1,4- hexadiene, and are mixed with chopped glass fibres, carbon black, paraffinic rubber processing oil, ZNO, zinc stearate, zinc dibutyldithiophosphate, mercaptobenzothiazole and sulphur. |
