PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or remove the compression strain of a foamed body roller, and remove liquid toner to the maximum by constituting a squeezing bar roller in such a manner as to squeeze the foamed body roller in an engagement position, and not to make contact with the foamed body roller in a retreat position. SOLUTION: The outer foamed body layer 46 of a foamed body roller 20 removes excessive toner and liquid carrier 28 from a developing roller 16 and a squeeze roller 18. The outer foamed body layer 46 is perfectly compressed by a squeezing bar roller 22, and the excessive toner and liquid carrier 28 are removed from the outer foamed body layer 46. In a printing position, a developing unit 45 is moved up, a roller assembly 50 is pressed down, and the foamed body roller 20 is pressed and brought into contact with the fixed squeezing bar roller 22. The outer foamed body layer 46 is perfectly compressed to perform a satisfactory squeezing. In a retreat position, the developing unit 27 is moved down, the developing roller 16 and the squeeze roller 18 are separated from a photo conductor 12 in this state, and the foamed body roller 20 is separated from the squeezing bar roller 22. |
