A method for magnetic field-controlled radionuclide therapy in a living body involves introducing a radioactive magnetic material (I) of high decay rate and long half-life into the body. (I) is in the form of a soln. of radioactive nuclides, molecules or molecular complexes with a characteristic magnetic dipole moment, a suspension of antibody-radionuclide-magnetic particle complexes (pref. having a surface not recognised as foreign by the body) or a suspension of antibody labelled synthetic or modified biological cells with corresp. radioactive and magnetic properties. Locally increased and temporarily localised intensive action in the target region, with minimal irradiation of healthy tissue, is obtd. by applying an internal and/or external magnetic field. Circulating (I) (which are not held at the target site by the magnetic field or not bonded to corresp. receptors, or which enter the bloodstream after switching off or removing the external magnetic field) are separated from the blood by extracorporeal treatment.
|
