The package consists of a plastics tray with lid or cover foil. It has an intermediate base (3) with a number of openings, which is located at a distance to the tray base (5), to support the fish. The tray body decreases in size in steps, towards the tray base. The intermediate base engages on the circumferential step (2). The tray walls have projections (4) to define the height at which the intermediate base is fixed. The space (6) between the two bases contains a fluid-absorbent substance. The tray has a wide top edge (7) to support the covering foil (8). This consists of a laminate and its outer layer is of the same material as the tray, so that the two can be connected by heat welding. After use, the tray can be used as a plant pot or as insert in a pot.
