<p>Thienopyridine derivs. of formula (I) (where R1 is opt. substd. alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; and R2 and R3 are H, lower alkyl, aryl or heterocyclyl), e.g. 5-(2-chlorobenzyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno 3,2-c pyridine, are prepd. by (a) reacting cpds. of formula (II) (where X is H, an alkali metal or a gp. Mg-Y in which Y is halogen) with a cpd. Hal-SO2-R4 (III) (where Hal is halogen and R4 is opt. substd. alkyl, aryl or aralkyl); (b) reacting the resulting cpd. of formula (IV) with an amine R1-NH2 (V); and (c) cyclising the resulting cpd. of formula (VI) with formaldehyde. (I) are pharmaceuticals.</p> |
