Tube clamp for structural frames - using octagonal members with clamp formed by complementary half shells hinged and screwed together

The framework clamp is designed to enable rigid, adjustable frames to be erected quickly, using a minimum number of elements. Rigidity of the frameworks is assured by using members with an octagonal cross section and the clamp is made of two half shells of complementary form. The shells are hinged together on one side and are clamped together by a hand screw at the other. The screw is pivoted in a projection from one shell and registers in a slot in a similar projection on the other. One of the shells (2) carries an extension (14) in the form of an octagonal section lug, or a tube with octagonal hore, for connection to orthogonal members.
