The support plate of the caster is dome shaped with contoured grooves to form the bearing shells for upper and lower ball races. The upper ball race is small and supports the plate against a fixed upper plate under the mounting plate (13) of the item the castor is fitted to. The lower bearing is larger and supports the back of the swivel forks. The bearings are fitted around a hollow shaft through whose centre is fitted the brake lever which presses a brake pad (19) onto the castor wheel. The caster is simple to fit and is robust, with a long life.
