The monitor monitors interlaced clock pulses in telephone equipment for dropout, frequency deviations and if necessary for pulse duration using fewer timing components than similar types of monitor. The two interlaced pulses sequences (T1, T2) are applied to the set and reset inputs of a flip-flop (FF). A pulse in the first sequence changes the flip-flop's state. The pulse in the second sequence that immediately follows this first pulse returns the flip-flop to its initial state. If the flip-flop remains in either state longer than a given present time, an error signal is released.
