<p>1417332 Sensitization for electroless plating RCA CORPORATION 13 Feb 1973 [14 Feb 1972] 6910/73 Heading C7F A surface treatment composition comprises a solution of tin ions at least in stannic form and also, in amount 0.5 M to saturation, additional soluble salt furnishing Cl<SP>-</SP>, Br<SP>-</SP> (or when Sn<SP>1</SP><SP>1</SP> is absent) I<SP>-</SP> ions. The solution may contain aged Sn<SP>IV</SP> ions in amount 0.001-1.6 M, and the said soluble salt may be the Na salt. The composition exhibits enhanced stability and welting properties, and is used to treat difficultly platable substrates, e.g. PTFE or certain photo-resists, prior to catalysis and electroless plating, e.g. with Ni, Co, Cu, Pt Au and/or Pd.</p> |
