1449790 Adhesive tapes KENDALL CO 22 Aug 1975 [26 Aug 1974] 35016/75 Heading B2E [Also in Division Dl] An adhesive tape consists of a pressure sensitive adhesive coated on one side of a woven fabric comprising elastic warp yarns including elastomeric filaments and interspersed with non-elastomeric warp yarns which include multiple filament nylon yarns having a denier per filament of 2¢ to 5¢, each elastic warp yarn being floated on one side of the fabric across a plurality of filling yarns, the coating being carried out when the elastic yarns are stretched. Each nylon yarn is preferably adjacent no more than one non-elastomeric yarn of another material (e.g. cotton), and adjacent nylon yarns have opposite weave patterns. The elastic yarns may be distributed as every seventh warp yarn to every thirteenth warp yarn. Fill yarns are preferably cotton. The adhesive may be applied by calendering, or by transfer foam a polyethylene film or a silicone-coated sheet using pressure. |
