A keyboard has a key locking system with a number of individual elements that are moved when a key is operated and blocks all the other keys. The elements are balls of the same diameter guided in a channel which runs below the keys. When a key is operated it projects into the channel and fills a gap corresponding to its width, whereby the rest of the channel is completely filled by the balls to prevent any other key being operated. The channel may be U-shaped and may have a hole in one end for insertion of an electrical contact.
