The spooling machine is for the winding of one or more threads, with a spooling spindle to take spool covers with either the spindle or the cover fitted with thread pick-up devices. The machine also includes a thread changer to facilitate the thread build up during the winding process. The spool spindle with empty spool covers lies within the space circumscribed by the swivel movement of the thread placing arm. The turning axis for the thread placing arm is positioned in relation to the spool spindle axis so that it crosses the extension of the spool spindle axis. This produces an axial movement component for the threads to be wound in relation to the spool spindle.
