Foundation fabric for tufted carpet e.g., Oriental carpet for wall hanging has a single, treble or multiple weave, with weft threads which have a different colour to the warp threads, and with interchange between warp and weft weave to form the pattern in the fabric. The fabric has floating loops for tying the pile yarn lengths, consisting of four weft tying threads in each loop row. The first and third or second and fourth tying threads in each loop row extend in the same weave to form double loops in the warp direction, and the flaoting regions of the first and third tying threads are offset from those of the second and fourth tying threads in the weft direction. Pref. the weave is a twill weave, with a varying weave number, and the warp threads are white while the weft threads are black.
|
