The centrifugal machine of multi-stage construction has the direction of flow reversed from stage to stage. The stages have impingement blades and collecting ducts for the removal of drops of liq. Used in centrifugal rotating machines for chemical sepns. such as distn. processes in which both physical and thermodynamic changes take place. Removal of liq. drops minimises erosion of the rotating elements and the symmetrical construction of the machines allows them to be used as driven units of for power prodn.
