<p>The valve slides in a frame assembly mounted on the underside of the casting ladle or other bottom-pouring vessel, bringing an orifice plate or a blank section beneath the ladle outlet to give flow or no-flow conditions, respectively. It comprises improved hydraulically and pneumatically actuated mechanisms for rapid acceleration of the valve from static or slow-motion regimes or vice versa, giving close and speedy regulation of the liq-metal flow in addn. to the full-flow or no-flow states. A replaceable tube or nozzle outlet, a gas-permeable stopper with fixed connections for introducing inert gas or O to prevent or remove skull, an insulating asbestos plate, and other fittings can be incorporated. The assembly is suitable for intermediate pouring in the continuous casting of steel.</p> |
