1465042 Ammoxidation process PRODUITS CHIMIQUES UGINE KURLMANN 12 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 10363/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Unsaturated nitriles are made by the ammoxidation of olefins in the presence of catalysts consisting of an oxidecombination of formula' Sb 1-10 Sn 1-10 W 0À01-5 Cu 0À01-5 O e . The catalysts may be deposited on. conventional supports such as silica and are activated by heating at 500-1000‹ C., in the presence of O 2 before use. The ammoxidation which is preferably of propylene to give acrylonitrile is performed at 350-520‹ C. with a contact time of. 0À5-10 s. using an O 2 /propylene molar ratio of 0À5-3 and an NH 3 /propylene molar ratio of 0À7-3 preferably in the presence of 5-40 vol. per cent of steam or other diluent.
