<p>1344118 Pharmaceutical preparations F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 23 Nov 1971 [23 Nov 1970] 54367/71 Heading ASB Pharmaceutical preparations having a hypolipidemic effect useful in the treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis contain a hydroxy nicotinic acid derivative of the formula: wherein R is hydrogen, a halogen atom in the 4-position, an amino group in the 5- or 6- position or a C 1-4 alkyl in the 6-position, or a salt thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable base, in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier which is a solid or liquified gaseous diluent or a liquid diluent other than a solvent of a molecular weight less than 200 except in the presence of a surface active agent. Salts may be formed with alkali metal e.g. Na or K, or alkaline earth metal e.g. Ca, hydroxides and carbonates; ammonia; primary, secondary and tertiary amines such as mono-, di- or trimethylamines and nitrogencontaining heterocyclic amines e.g. piperidine. The preparations may be administered orally or parenterally in the form of tablets, capsules, suspensions and solutions.</p> |
