PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyorganofullerene deriv. useful as an intermediate under mild conditions at a high rate by allowing a fullerene core to react with an amino compd., an alkoxide, an org. thiolate, an org. phenol compd. or the like in a solvent. SOLUTION: The polyorganofullerene deriv. has a compsn. represented by the formula F(-E)n, wherein F is a fullerene core such as C60, C70, C76, C78, C82, C84 or C92, E is one of E1-E5, E1 is Y1,Y2-amino (Y is alkyl), Y1,Y2- ethylenediamino, (dihydroxymethyl)alkylamino, X1,X2-(aryl)amino, X1,X3-(aryl) amino, or X1,X3-aryloxy, E2 is Y1,Y2-alkoxy or the like, E3 is Y1,Y2,Y3-alkoxy or the like, (n) is 2-30 and X1 is -Y, -O-Y, -S-Y, -NH-Y, -CO-O-Y or the like. The compd. or its salt is used as an effective hydrolyzing agent.
