1427371 Filter element MARVEL ENG CO 2 Oct 1973 [21 June 1973] 46063/73 Headings BID, BIT and B2J A cylindrical pleated filter element intended for the filtration of hydraulic fluid, oil or other liquids or gases by inward flow through the element, comprises means integral with each wall of the pleats for maintaining uniform pleat spacing. The spacing means comprise two types of projection 24, 26 which extend from opposite sides of the pleat. Pleats defined by an outer fold 20 are spaced by the mutual contact of two opposed projections 24, these projections being mounted in mutually opposite inclined angles to the horizontal so as to make contact at an angle of 80 to 100 degrees with each other. The projections 24 are of uniform width so that the two pleat walls are held parallel to each other. Pleats defined by an inner fold 22 have separated by simliar projections 26, but the projections 26 increase in width along their length such that the pleats open out towards the outer edge of the element. The filter element may comprise pleated cellulose or paper. In use, one or more magnetic rods (34) Fig. 7 (not shown) may be positioned 'between adjacent pleats of the filter element, parallel to the axis thereof. |
