A drying system for plastic coated photographic papers etc has a housing (1) with an open channel (6) in its front surface through which the wet strip material (7) can pass. The channel (6) is bounded at its upper edge by a grille or lattice (8) and at its lower end by a conveyor or transport belt (9) having a series of holes cut into it. Air is blown through the grille (8) directly onto the surface of the photographic material (7) and part of the stream passes through the holes (10) to provide an air flow which falls upon the undersurface of the strip material (7).
