1451867 Control linkages REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 28 Aug 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 37542/74 Heading F1B [Also in Division B7] Accelerator pedal biasing arrangement including a cable 6 indirectly connected via a resilient member 5 to an accelerator pedal 3, the cable being wound on a drum 8 coupled to a reversible motor 7, and control means 12 for causing the motor to rotate respectively in one of two directions when an operating parameter of the vehicle respectively exceeds or falls below a predetermined value, rotation of the drum in one direction causing the cable to be wound on to the drum so that, via the resilient means 5, the cable biases the pedal against depression. As shown the pedal is fully biased against depression, the spring 5 pivoting a lever 1 about point 1a to bias a rod 2 and pedal 3 rearwardly, and a rod 10 on the drum opens a contactor 11a to deactivate a relay 13a. If the operating parameter, e.g. the speed, of the vehicle drops below a given value a computer 12 shuts off a signal at output 12a and emits a signal at 12b. The signal travels via contactor 11b to relay 13b and causes contactor 15b to move and connect a motor terminal 17b to earth. The motor is then driven to slacken the cable 6, the slack being taken up by spring 9, thus reducing the bias force on the pedal. When rod 10 opens contactor 11b the signal from 12b is disconnected from 13b and contactor 15b breaks the earth connection and the motor is stopped. If the parameter now increases above the given value the signal at 12b ceases and a signal appears at 12a thus actuating relay 13a and causing the motor to be driven in reverse whereupon the cable is wound on to the drum and the bias against depression increased. |
