Candle wick erecting tongs - for subsequent gripping of wicks by clamps prior to candle dipping e.g. for colouring

The candle wick-erecting device can pivot in either direction on its axial journals. It supports a pair of tongs normally held closed by pressure of a spring; the spring force is selected so that the candle is not damaged. Pref. the wick tongs are adapted or adapt themselves to the shape of the candle, and can be pivoted or transported into the opened candle clamps. In automatic candle-dipping plants of known type e.g. for application of a coloured outer layer, the difficulties arising from candles with bent-over wicks which escape the candle clamps, partic. when the wicks are stiff with impregnated wax, no longer arise in this new design.
