The ceramic blocks with a fine honeycomb structure built up from numerous cells, which are pref. closed, each contg. an opening for balancing differences between the internal and external pressures during all operating conditions. The cells are pref. arranged horizontally and the ceramic blocks sepd. by expansion gaps contg. mats of insulating fibres. Used esp. for pressurised containers for gas heated to 1300 degrees F.
