The bottle crate (Harras), which is used especially for receiving wine bottles, has compartments (16) with elastic clamping means (19, 22) for the bottle received. Furthermore, the bottle crate is fitted with support surfaces with catch means (34, 36) on two opposite side walls (27) so that it can be stacked, even with the bottles in a horizontal position, in which case the bottles are held securely by the clamping means. <IMAGE>
