After burner installation cylinder - fits to combustion chamber pipes and has angular cross sectioned ring seal with pipe union welded

The multi-cylinder automotive engine exhaust gas after burner installation, has a combustion chamber which is heat insulated against the housing which envelope it. Into the combustion chamber issue pipe unions connected to the engine cylinders, these unions being sealed to the combustion chamber wall. The pipe unions (5) project through apertures (14) in the combustion chamber wall with their inner ends, and are connected on both sides of the wall with an angular cross-sectioned ring seal (15). The pipe part (16) of the seal is welded to the outside of the pipe union, and its collar (17) lies loosely against the combustion chamber wall.
