<p>1463860 Valves PONT-A-MOUSSON SA 27 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 37381/74 Heading F2V A gate valve has a closure member 2 shaped as a tubular sector of the same diameter as the cavity 4 such that it co-operates with that part of the cavity walls having the controlled port and is provided with an actuating stem 3 spaced from the axis of the cavity and located in the immediate vicinity of the said part of the wall. This arrangement is said to reduce friction forces and fluid disturbance and facilitate actuation and control of the valve. The outlet port is provided with a grid 18 to reduce valve noise. The floor and roof of the cavity may be shaped to aid fluid flow and the outlet port may be provided with notches at its periphery to facilitate fluid flow control. The valve member may also have a shaped leading edge, Figs. 6-8 (not shown) and longitudinal passages, Fig. 10 (not shown). The stem 3 has a reduced section 14 to give a certain flexibility to the closure member.</p> |
