PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging method capable of charging a control valve type lead-acid battery in a short time and lengthening the life. SOLUTION: As a first step, the control valve type lead-acid battery is charged at 15A, and when the time period before the voltage reaches the preset voltage is within the predetermined length, charge is finished. On the other hand, when the time exceeds the set length, the control valve type lead-acid battery is charged until the voltage reaches the set voltage while the current values are decreased to 10A as a second step, to 5A as a third step, and to 4A as a fourth step. After that, the charged amount is calculated, and when the charged amount exceeds 105% of discharge amount, charge is finished, and if it does not exceed 105% of the discharge amount, charge is continued at 4A until the charged amount reaches 105% of the discharge amount.
