PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system capable of detecting malfunction of a terminal device appropriately and surely to execute a restoring processing, and of preventing the waste of power consumption and the illegal use of the terminal device as much as possible. SOLUTION: An information providing system A connects terminal equipment 10 consisting of a computer 11 and peripheral devices 12 to a base station 20 via a communication network 1, and acquires the information managed by the station 20 from the equipment 10 via the network 1 to display and/or output it. The station 20 monitors the state of operation of the equipment 10 via another public line 2 differently from the network 1, and upon detecting the malfunction of the equipment 10, the station 20 executes a restoring processing via the line 2 in order to restore the operation of the equipment 10 to a normal state. |
