A telescopic steel cover for the guide tracks of a machine tool is provided with a spring element between the rear wall, e.g. 2d, Fig. 3, of each casing and the rear wall, e.g. 1d of the next larger casing the spring element comprising a rubber strip spring 9 preferably in the form of a loop, lying parallel to the rear walls and being held between two flexible strips 11 connected to the respective rear walls, the arrangement providing a resilient drive linkage between the casings 1, 2 and preventing sharp impact of one casing upon the next during extension movement of the cover, while separate resilient buffers 14, Fig. 4, are provided to cushion the contact of the casings at the end of the retraction movement of the cover. Each cover, e.g. 2, Fig. 5, is also preferably provided with a leaf spring 12 attached to its rear wall 2d which rests against a resilient buffer 13 and is adapted to abut a support rail 8 on the next larger casing 1 at the end of an extension movement. |
