Novel compounds of formula in which R 1 and R 2 are aryl and R 3 is pyridyl (the aryl and pyridyl radicals may optionally be substituted) and their acid addition salts are prepared by reducing (a) a compound of formula or (b) a compound of formula wherein one of X 1 , X 2 and X 3 is =O and the other two are each two H atoms and converting the products of (a) and (b) into their acid addition salts if desired. Intermediates isolated are compounds of formula prepared by reacting R 1 N(R 2 )H with acrylonitrile, compounds of formula prepared by reduction of the above nitriles (III) and compounds of Formula (II) prepared by reacting IV with R 3 -CHO. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound (I) or one of its acid addition salts together with a suitable excipient, are administered topically, enterally or parenterally and have anti-inflammatory activity.</p> |
