<p>Pests. (esp. warm-blooded animals, part rodents) in stored goods in enclosed spaces (esp. cold-stored or refrigerated transport) are destroyed by wholly or partially replacing the air in the enclosed space by a non-toxic gas which does not support respiration (pref. N2 ethlene or CO2). When a rapid kill of the pests is required, it is advantageous to add to the non-toxic gas 1-20 (pref. ca5) vol. % of a compound, in gas or vapour form, having a narcotic effect but low toxicity (e.g. CHCl3, CH2Cl2, CHCl3, or dimethyl, methyl ethyl or diethyl ether).</p> |
