<p>PURPOSE:To enable ultra high-speed optical control and an optical information read exceeding the limits of electric control. CONSTITUTION:Two laser beams having two kinds of wavelength are made incident on a laser element. One laser beam is turned ON and OFF by utilizing the saturation of the amplification gain in the laser element to control the projection intensity of the other laser beam. Assuming that the two laser beams consists of pulse trains 11 and 12, the latter laser light pulses vary in projection intensity depending upon whether or not the former laser beam pulses are present. This operation is used to detect the laser beam pulse train which varies in projection intensity as a probe, and then the time array, i.e., information on pulse codes of the former laser beam pulse can be known. The repetitive frequency of the laser beam pulse train as the probe is set to a submultiple of the fundamental repetitive frequency of the laser beam pulse train as a signal and then information can be read out of the signal at the frequency of the probe laser beam pulse train.</p> |
