A gyro sensor section (34) measures the attitude of a camera (30) and a PC (10) performs required image processing and calculation of the position of a camera (30). The contour of an object is determined from a viewpoint where t he camera can image the object freely by varying the position/attitude of the camera freely. A plurality of images and attitudes are obtained by capturing the object from a plurality of positions/attitudes and the position of the camera is determined using the contour of the object on the image. A three- dimensional shape is reconstituted from the position of the camera and the contour of the object.
