PURPOSE:To prevent excessive yawing acting on the body of an automobile in a device wherein steering of rear wheels is controlled on the same phase side as steering of front wheels after steering of rear wheels is controlled on the instantaneous antiphase side with respect to steering of front wheels by controlling steering of the rear wheels only on the same phase side as steering of front wheels in a high speed range. CONSTITUTION:A rear wheel steering device has a power cylinder 7 connected to a hydraulic pressure pump 6 via a rear wheel steering control valve 8 and the rear wheel steering control valve 8 is switched by a controller 9 in response to sensor signals from a steering wheel angle sensor 10 and a rear wheel steering angle sensor 11 and thereby the steering angle of rear wheels 2 is controlled. In this case, during the steering control of rear wheels performed by the controller 9, the control of the steering angle of the rear wheels on the instantaneous antiphase side is carried out in proportion to the speed of an automobile when the automobile is in its constant speed range until the automobile reaches a high speed range of more than a predetermined speed, and when the automobile is in its high speed range the steering angle of the rear wheels is controlled only on the same phase side as the steering angle of front wheels. |
