PURPOSE: To reduce operating time and to relieve the complication of a patient after an operation by connecting a tubular electrode to a motor-driven gear in place of a loop electrode, and constructing an electric knife from an elliptical electrode made of a high-resistivity metallic wire and a replaceable wire holder. CONSTITUTION: An electric knife comprises an elliptical loop 14 of a high- resistivity metallic wire constituting a cutting loop and a cylindrical tube 16 constituting a cutting loop holder supporting the loop 14, the cutting loop holder 15 comprising a metallic pipe of high electric conductivity, and the electric knife 1 is inserted into one end of a tube electrode 16. In the tube electrode 16, a telescope for viewing the inside during incision is inserted in coaxial fashion. During an operation, electricity from a general electrosurgical unit is fed to a connector 12, the electric knife 1 is heated by application of a high voltage for incision or solidification, and the electrode 16 and the electric knife 1 are rotated via a transmission gear set 32 as they are driven by a DC motor 34. Then, by simply translating a resectoscope slowly as the inside is observed and moving its angle slightly, the operation can be achieved efficiently at high safety. |
