<p>Long plates made of a plastic material, provided with horizontally disposed, straight or undulate or zigzag ribs, are used as "bacterium bed" in biological purification (with aeration) of flowing waste waters. They are vertically suspended in the purification zone. Their surface is roughened to improve the adhesion of the "bacterium bed". Preferably, the spacing of the ribs is larger on the "open" side than towards the bottom. They can be made tin, and hence, are relatively inexpensive. They have a large surface promoting the biological purification.</p> |
