Concentrated canola phosphatides (lecithins) which are dehydrated to contain less than 1% water, about 6070% phosphatides and about 30-40% oil and preferably mixed with 10 to 50% of treated oil from which phosphatides have been removed have surprising properties of good film strength and lubricity at temperatures below 250.degree.C and are suited for use as lubricants for gears, cutting oils, finishing oils and for use in oil base and water base drilling muds.
