摘要 PURPOSE:To specify failure in operation of which of two sensors even when a gear position is in a neutral position by comparing the number of revolutions of an engine from the regulation position of a fuel regulating means with the one of the numbers of revolutions of an engine and an input shaft by means of outputs from a number of revolutions of engine sensor and an input shaft rotation sensor. CONSTITUTION:A control device for a vehicle comprises a regulation position detecting means 6 to detect the regulation position of a fuel regulating means for an engine fuel feed amount and a neutral period computing means 7 to compute a number Ne2 of revolutions of an engine by means of an output from the regulation position detecting means 6 when the gear position of an automatic transmission is in a neutral position. When the occurrence of failure in operation is decided by a failure in operation deciding means 5 and the gear position of the automatic transmission is in a neutral position, the one of the number Ne1 of revolutions of an engine computed by a number of revolutions of engine computing means 2 and a number Ni of revolutions of an input shaft computed by a number of revolutions of input shaft computing means 4 is compared with the number N2 of revolutions of engine computed by the neutral period computing means 7. Through decision of whether the two numbers of revolutions are equal or unequal to each other, the sensor in a failure in operation state of an engine rotation sensor 1 and an input shaft sensor 3 is specified by a failure in operation spot specifying means 8.
