Cylinder gas temperature determination in combustion engine

The method involves determining the temperature of a gas in a cylinder of a combustion engine, whereby the gas is composed of a residual gas share and a fresh gas share. The respective temperatures of the fresh gas and the residual gas, and their respective shares in the gas are individually determined, and the determined values are used to calculate the temperature of the gas in the cylinder. The temperature of the fresh gas is preferably determined nearby the inlet in the cylinder, and the temperature of the residual gas is preferably determined from the temperature of exhaust fumes.
