摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge an image with a small amount of operation while ensuring an excellent reproducibility of an edge part. SOLUTION: First, second and third interpolation pixels Q23, Q32 and Q33 are generated in the lateral and longitudinal directions for some original pixel P22. The first and second interpolation pixels Q23 and Q32 use, respectively, a set of original pixels (set of P22 and P24, set of P22 and P42) interlaying the first and second interpolation pixels in the lateral and longitudinal directions, and two sets of original pixels (set of P02 and P44, set of P04 and P42, set of P20 and P44, set of P24 and P40) in the intersecting oblique direction. Predicted pixel values of the first and second interpolation pixels are determined for each set using the original pixels of each set, variation of original pixel is determined for each set, two sets having a small variation are selected, and prediction pixel values corresponding to the two sets are weighted depending on the variation thereof thus determining first and second interpolation pixels. Third interpolation pixel is determined using two sets of original pixel interlaying that interpolation pixel in the intersecting oblique direction.</p>
