PURPOSE:To improve oxidation resistance to carbon dioxide and to suppress carburizing phenomena by forming a graphite material having a microstructure of carbon black stuck to the circumference of the surface of graphite particles. CONSTITUTION:This graphite material has a microstructure of carbon black stuck to the circumference of the surface of graphite particles and has 1.50-1.95g/cm<3> bulk density. The graphite material is obtained by the following method. Namely, a granular raw material for carbon material blended with 2-20wt.% carbon black is molded, burnt and carbonized and graphitized. The raw material for carbon material is prepared by mixing aggregate fine powder such as raw coke, calcined coke, artificial graphite or natural graphite with carbon black and optionally binder pitch and a thermosetting resin as a binder. |
