Sorting device for sorting a mixture of waste using a conveyor belt with a progressive inclination in the conveying direction. The relatively fine waste is removed by firstly driving the conveyor belt, which is provided with transverse ribs, in a first direction. The remaining, relatively coarse waste is removed by then reversing the conveying direction.
